Authentic Latin Picadillo

Picadillo is a spicy Latin dish made with beef,
onions, tomatoes, olives and spices.
Sometimes olives and capers are added as well.

Ingredients:
1 lb lean beef, chopped coarse
1 med. onion,chopped fine
2 large fresh tomatoes,peel,chop
1 clove garlic, crushed
2 tablespoons vinegar
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 pinch cloves
1/4 teaspoon cumin, ground
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup seedless raisins
1/2 cup almonds, blanched, slivered

Directions:
Brown meat over med. heat.
After meat begins to cook
and some of the fat begins to cook out,
add the onion. Cook until onion is translucent.
Drain off excess fat, if any.
Add all remaining ingreds. except almonds.
Simmer for about 30 min.
Add the almonds just before serving;
use as garnish for top of dish.
