Authentic Southern Style Hush Puppies

We fry up batches of batter made of seasoned
corn meal and flour in little fritter type balls.
In the south they would throw them to the barking
dogs to hush them up,hence the name hush puppies.
We just told the dogs to shut up and kept
these tasty deep fried treats to ourselves.

Ingredients:
1/4 cup milk
1 egg
1/2 cup cornmeal
1/4 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1 teaspoon onion powder
salt

Directions:
Combine dry ingredients.
Add egg and milk.
Stir well.
Should be the consistency of bread batter.
If too thin add more corn meal or flour.
Drop by teaspoonful into hot grease.
Cook until brown.
Drain on paper towels.
Add salt to taste.
