Dutch Santa Claus Cookies

Ingredients:
1 cup soft butter
1 cup shortening
2 cups sugar
4 cups sifted flour
4 teaspoons powdered cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon powdered cloves
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup dairy sour cream
1/2 cup chopped nuts

Directions:
Cream butter and shortening with sugar until light and fluffy.
Sift flour and spices together. Dissolve baking soda in sour cream.
Add flour to creamed mixture alternately with sour cream .
Add nuts. Knead. Shape into roll about 2 1/2 inches in diameter.
Chill for 8 hours. Slice thin. Bake at 375 degrees F. for 10-15 minutes.
