I made this recipe for a quick and easy garlic
tomato sauce to serve over home made pasta.
Ingredients:
4 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil
1 tablespoon minced garlic (about 3 large cloves)
1 28-ounce can Italian crushed tomatoes
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper to taste
Directions:
Heat the olive oil and garlic in a heavy pan
over low heat for 4 to 5 minutes.
Do not let the garlic brown.
Add the tomatoes, oregano, and basil.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Raise the heat and bring the sauce to a boil.
Cook for 1 minute.
Remove the pan from the heat.
If not using right away, let it cool completely,
then refrigerate in a covered container, or freeze.
Use as a tomato sauce for pizza or pasta.
