This recipe makes the best molassis cookies.
Don't over bake them, they will get hard.
There even better the next day!
Ingredients:
3/4 Cup Melted shortening
1 Cup Sugar
1/3 Cup Molasses
2 Eggs
2 1/2 Cups Flour
2 tsp. Baking Soda
1/4 tsp. Salt
1/2 tsp. Ground cloves
1/2 tsp. Ground ginger
1 tsp. Cinnamon
additional sugar for rolling and sprinkling
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Mix together flour, baking soda, salt,
and spices in a small bowl and set aside.
Cream melted shortening with sugar.
Mix in molasses and eggs.
Add dry indredients and mix until just blended.
(The batter will be a little sticky.)
Roll into balls and roll into sugar.
Put on greased baking sheet that has been lined with foil.
Bake about 10 minutes.
When they come out of the oven sprinkle
with some additional sugar.
Allow to cool on baking sheet and few minutes
and then transfer to wire rack.
