This meat mixture makes a hamburger that
is brown and crunchy on the outside,
tender, juicy and tomato tasting inside.
Ingredients:
2 pounds ground beef 85/15
2 cup day old bread crumbs
1 medium onion, peeled and chopped
1 medium green bell pepper, chopped
1 (8 ounces) tomato sauce
1 egg
1 teaspoons salt or to taste
1/4 teaspoon pepper
3/4 cup milk
2 tablespoons brown sugar, packed
2 tablespoons prepared brown mustard
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
Directions:
Preheat grill to medium heat.
Gently mix ground beef, bread crumbs, onion, bell pepper,
1/2 of the tomato sauce, egg, salt, milk, brown sugar,
mustard, and vinegar and pepper until combined.
Do not overmix. Form into hamburgers and place on plate.
Sprinkle with sweet smoked paprika.
Place on grill, cover and cook for 2 to 4 minutes,
open lid, turn hamburgers over, season if desired.
Cook uncovered for another 4 to 5 minutes or until done.
This same meat mixture can be made into a meatloaf.
Shape into meatloaf in a baking dish.
Bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes, basting
with pan juices about every 20 minutes.
Let rest 15 minutes before cutting and serving.
