This is an old authentic Polish dish
brought to this country in the 1930's.
Somehow carraway seeds and cabbage
are found to belong together in
many old Polish and German recipes.
Ingredients:
1/2 stick un-salted butter
1/2 cup chopped onion
4 cups shredded cabbage
1 teaspoon caraway seeds
1/2 teaspoon salt or to taste
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 (8 ounce) package wide egg noodles, uncooked
1/2 cup sour cream
Directions:
Cook noodles according to package directions.
While noodles are cooking, melt butter in large skillet.
Add onion; saute until soft.
Add cabbage; saut 5 minutes or until crisp tender.
Stir in caraway seed, salt and pepper.
Drain noodles; stir noodles into cabbage.
Stir in sour cream. Cook 5 minutes longer, stirring frequently.
Makes 6 to 8 servings.
