Stewed Fresh Peaches

Our peaches all fell tothe ground,
most were still good to eat but
not for making fresh peach pies.
I cooked them up nice and sweet.

Ingredients:
20 fresh peaches
1/2 cup white sugar
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt
water

Directions:
In a large pot bring enough water
to a boil to cover fresh peaches.
Simmer five minutes and drain.
Fill pot of peaches with cold water.
Drain and fill again with cold water.
Peel skins off peaches and remove pits.
Place in sauce pot with sugar and spices.
Bring to a boil, then shut off heat.
Let peaches poach in there own liquid.
Serve over ice cream, cereal or oatmeal.
