I fell in love with these little tasty
squares of thin dough when watching the
Frugal Gourmet cooking show on PBS tv.
Back then he filled them with a mixture
of pork and egg whites which was good,
but I wanted a sweet type of won ton.
I fussed around and came up with this.
Sometimes the simple is the best.
Try this recipe, it's not difficult
to make and your taste buds will be
pleasantly rewarded on the first bite.
Ingredients:
24 won ton wrappers
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
2 large eggs, whites only
1 cup minced fresh pineapple
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon salt
canola oil for frying
Directions:
Preheat oil to 360 degrees F. for frying.
In a mixing bowl combine cream cheese,
pineapple, cinnamon, egg whites and salt.
Place 1/2 teaspoon cream mixture on
each won ton wrapper and fold to seal.
Using some cold to help seal dough.
Place the filled won ton wrappers in
a deep fryer or pan to brown all over.
Remove to drain and cool before serving.
