My oldest brother hates brussel sprouts.
If you haven’t discovered Brussels sprouts yet,
you’ll be delighted when you taste these.
Many vegetable recipes are bland,
but these are interesting enough to make
you want to eat your veggies.
Ingredients:
1/4 pound bacon, cut in half
2 tablespoons flour
1/2 cup cream
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 pound fresh Brussels sprouts
Directions:
In a skillet, cook cut bacon slices
over medium high heat until crisp.
Drain bacon grease;
reserve two tablespoons in skillet.
Over low heat, whisk in two
tablespoons flour with grease.
Add quarter cup cream to gravy
and whisk over low heat.
Sprinkle with pepper, whisk more.
add more flour to thicken
to a loose gravy consistency.
You don’t want the gravy to be
too thick because the Brussels sprouts
are going to cook for a while,
and the gravy will thicken
slightly during that cooking time.
Crumble bacon and add to gravy.
Wash and pat dry the Brussels sprouts.
Add them to the gravy;
cover and simmer for 10 minutes,
until Brussels sprouts are
cooked through but are still firm
My brother just might like brussel sprouts
If he had tried them cooked this way.
