These cookies are called "Halfway Cookies" because
they are halfway between a cake and a cookie.
Ingredients:
1 c. Crisco
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. white sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs, separated
2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
TOPPING:
2 egg whites
1 c. brown sugar
Directions:
In a mixing bowl cream Crisco and sugars.
Beat in vanilla and the 2 egg yolks.
Beat in flour, baking soda, salt and baking powder.
Pat batter into a greased 9 x 13-inch pan.
Sprinkle chocolate chips over batter and press down.
Topping:
Beat the 2 egg whites. Add 1 cup brown sugar.
Beat and pour
over the top of the batter.
Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes.
After cooling, cut into squares.
