Try cooking a whole chicken this way.
With a built in bubbling beer volcano.
This popular recipe is cooked on the grill.
The beer adds flavor and moistness
to the whole chicken as it cooks.
I also add the juice of a fresh lemon
and a few shots of hot sauce to the
can of beer for a tasty unique flavor.
Ingredients:
12 oz. can dark beer
4 lb. whole chicken
2 Tbsp. grill seasoning rub
Directions:
Remove giblets from inside chicken, throw away.
Wash chicken inside and out and pat dry.
Coat inside and outside of chicken with
1 Tablespoon of sweet smoked paprika.
Open the beer can and punch two more holes in the top.
Pour out a little of the beer,
to allow room for the lemon and hot sauce.
This is the fun part!
Hold the chicken upright, with the opening
of the body cavity at the bottom,
and lower it onto the beer can so
the can fits into the cavity opening.
Pull the chicken legs forward so it stands upright.
Tuck the tips of the wings behind the chicken’s back.
Set up the grill for indirect grilling.
Cover the grill and cook until the chicken skin is crisp and dark brown. The meat will be cooked through in about 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 hours.
Carve the chicken and serve grilled beer can chicken
