This is a real old recipe for pain perdu (lost bread),
a Cajun contry French toast recipe.
Ingredients:
1 egg
2 tablespoons sugar
1 cup milk
dash of nutmeg
2 tablespoons butter
DirectionS:
Beat together egg and sugar; add milk and nutmeg.
Dip slices of bread in the egg mixture then fry
in hot butter until browned on each side.
Dust with powdered sugar or serve with syrup.
