My Nonna passed down to me this
recipe for making the flakiest
baking powder biscuits ever!
Sometimes the simplest is best.
For a less crumbly biscuit,
substitute vegetable shortening
like Crisco for the butter.
Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 Tablespoon sugar
1/2 cup butter
2/3 cup milk
Directions:
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
Sift together flour, salt,
and baking powder.
Add sugar. Cut the butter
into small pieces and cut it
into the flour with a pastry
blender or a fork. Add milk.
Stir/knead to make a sticky dough.
Drop by large spoonfuls
onto a baking sheet.
Bake for 15 minutes or
until golden brown.
Makes a very flaky biscuit.
