Most meat sauces are bland tasting.
This one will knock your socks off.
Not with hot pepper heat but with
the fantastic blend of spices.
Of course you could kick it up
with more hot pepper if you like.
Ingredients:
1 red onion, peeled and chopped
1 green bell pepper, chopped
2 cups water
1 tablespoon cider vinegar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 pounds ground beef
1/4 cup prepared ketchup
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
a dash or two cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon ground allspice
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 /2 teaspoon onion powder
1 or 2 more cups water
Directions:
In a soup pot place chopped onions
and peppers along with 2 cups water.
Bring to a boil, then add in vinegar,
Worcestershire sauce and ground beef.
Use a wooden spoon to break up the beef.
Stir in the ketchup, salt, pepper and cayenne.
Lower heat to a simmer and stir in the allspice
garlic and onion powders with more water.
Let simmer for about one hour to cook down.
If you desire a smoother sauce pulse it in a
food processor until desired consistency.
