Last night I wanted some cookies
and there were none in the house,
not wanting to brave the cold
and go to the grocery store I made these.
It only takes ten minutes to put together
and there's nothing better
than freshly baked cookies
right from the oven on a cold winter night.
Ingredients:
1 cup flour
1 egg
1/4 cup vegetable shortning
1/4 cup butter,softened
2 tablespoons cream
1/4 cup granulated white sugar
1/4 cup light brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees,
In mixing bowl cream together butter, shortning and sugars.
add salt, vanilla and 1/4 cup of the flour, mix to combine.
Add eggs, cream, the baking powder, baking soda and the rest of flour,
mix until a dough forms. Roll about a teaspoonful of dough
with your hands into balls,it's easier to keep the dough
from sticking to your hands if you keep your hands wet,
washing them after rolling every five cookies.
Place dough two inches apart on a parchment lined cookie sheet,
Bake for about ten minutes until lightly browned,
remove from sheet to cool and store in an airtight container.
