Double Chocolate
Walnut Cookies

Double Chocolate Walnut Cookies have a
candy like texture and are chocked
full of chocolate chips and walnuts.

Ingredients:
3 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup butter
1 1/4 cup sugar
2 eggs
3 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt, optional
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
2 cups coarsely chopped walnuts

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Over low heat, melt 2 cups of the chocolate chips
in a small saucepan, stirring constantly
to avoid burning the chocolate.
Allow the melted chips to cool.
Cream together the butter and sugar
in a medium mixing bowl.
Add eggs and vanilla and beat well.
To the egg-butter mixture add
the melted chocolate and blend.
Combine separately the flour,
salt, and baking powder.
Add flour mixture to chocolate
mixture, blending thoroughly.
Add walnuts and remaining
1 cup of chocolate chips and stir.
Onto lightly greased cookie sheets,
drop the dough from a rounded
teaspoon about 2 inches apart.
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, and allow
to cool before removing from sheets.
Makes 3 to 4 dozen cookies.
